Local professional triathletes and renowned doctors share health & fitness tips with endurance athletes at Virginia Hospital Center on March 3
Virginia Hospital Center, a leading comprehensive healthcare facility in the Washington Metropolitan area, and TriColumbia, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier endurance event production company, are hosting the EnduraHealth Summit race season kick-off!
Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Virginia Hospital Center from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Upon your arrival at Virginia Hospital Center, please park in the Green Parking Garage.
Entrance: Please exit the parking garage the way you entered (there is a Pedestrian Exit) and follow the crosswalk to the main Hospital. Walk straight and follow the sidewalk to John T. Hazel MD Conference Center.

EnduraHealth Summit will provide guidance and information on training, preparation, nutrition and recovery for endurance athletes, ranging from first-time triathletes and marathoners to “weekend warriors,” and help them to prepare and remain healthy this race season.
The summit will include a Meet & Greet with local professional triathletes Kyle Pawlaczyk and Kristin Andrews, and a Q&A with several renowned doctors from the Virginia Hospital Center. Athletic retailers will also be on site handing out samples and giveaways and showcasing their latest and greatest products.
Local professional triathletes:
Kyle Pawlaczyk, entering this third year as a professional triathlete, has recorded several top-five and top-ten finishes, including a fifth place finish Ironman 70.3 Poconos and an eighth place finish at Ironman 70.3 EagleMan.
Kristin Andrews celebrates her inaugural pro season in 2011 with a first place finish at the Iron Girl Columbia Triathlon and a second place finish at the Racine Ironman. Before turning pro, she set an amateur record by 10 minutes at the 2010 Ironman Lake Placid.
Virginia Hospital Center physicians: (check back for additional physician bios)
Pulmonologist Dr. Jeff Hales: Dr. Hales studied at Duke University, Vanderbilt University, and Johns Hopkins University, gaining experience in internal, pulmonary, and critical care medicine. Hales is the Chief of the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Division at Virginia Hospital Center and specializes in specializes in lung medicine with a focus on airways disorders such as asthma.
Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ben Kittredge: Dr. Ben Kittredge has always had a desire to work with and care for athletes of all kinds. As a runner himself, Kittredge has taken a special interest in running and triathlon injuries. While completing fellowships in sports medicine at Jefferson Medical College and Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., Kittredge nurtured his interest in sports medicine by serving as assistant team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers and Phillies. His surgical specialties include ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder stabilization.
